Hot Cross Bun Bread & Butter Pudding

You can only use leftover hot cross buns in one way: slice them up, load them with chocolate, and drizzle them with custard.

INGREDIENTS

6Hot cross buns

50 gutter

100 gMilk chocolate chopped

200 ml whole milk

200 ml double cream

5medium eggs

100 golden caster Sugar

DIRECTIONS

  1. Pre-heat oven to 190oC (or 170oC Fan). Butter an oven-safe baking dish. Butter an oven-proof baking dish. Cut the hot cross buns in half. Sprinkle half of the chopped chocolate on each side. Place in the baking dish. Sprinkle with remaining chocolate.
  2. Heat the cream and milk in a saucepan on medium heat. Do not let it boil. Let cool. Mix the sugar and eggs. Slowly beat the cooled milk mixture into eggs. Continue beating. Allow the mixture to sit for 10 minutes before pouring it over the hot cross buns.
  3. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes. Serve with custard.
