How to Make Dry Aloo Sabzi for Chapati

Aloo sabzi making recipe


Potatoes : 3 or 4

Onions: 2

Carom seeds: 1 tsp

Cumin seeds: ½ tsp

Red chili powder: 1 – 1 ½ tsp ( depending on how spicy you want it to be)

Garam masala powder – ½ tsp

Turmeric powder: ¼ tsp

Bay leaf: 1

Oil: 2 tbsp

Salt ( as required)


Slice the onions into thin slices


Heat oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds and bay leaf

Add the sliced onions after spluttering and sauté for 2-3 minutes

Add the potatoes and sauté for another 2-3 minutes

Add salt

Add turmeric powder

Add a little water just for the potatoes to get cooked. Do not add too much water

Close the lid and allow the potatoes to cook

Keep stirring the potatoes now and then

When the potatoes are half done, add the carom seeds, chili powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well

Close the lid and cook till the potatoes are fully cooked

Make sure that it is not watery. It should be the thick and fried dish

Switch off the flame

Transfer the contents to a serving bowl

Serve hot with chapatis
